Oh My God!!!!

I'm dying to get my hands on BSNL Dataone.

The plans are very very decent to say the least. True that the concept of "bandwidth metering" is still there, but in the GBs, it actually doesn't matter. Hopefully, things will improve...

I know. And I just called up my DIAS contact & confirmed that :

a) Dataone is available for my place
b) The charges will be waived.

I'm looking at the 1000/1800 plan. Speed + Bandwidth is something you just can't resist :)

and the download limit for the 500plan is just 1GB

I've been paying 850+120 per extra 100 MB for a 500 MB plan of DIAS for the last one year. 1 GB is actually manageable.

Yeah. Or call your exchange straight. Seems they have Dataone even in places where DIAS wasn't available.

Gee. Stop crying!! lol

I'm running Gentoo on that 500 MB upload + Download DIAS thingy. And frigging paying 250 bucks more than what you'll be paying for Dataone ;)

Heh. Now you know why I'm overjoyed.

Bright side to the 500 MB - I've had very few service outages and most of them due to faults on my side. Compare that to someone like Sify, where people I know are suffering everyday. BSNL have been providing amazing/consistent service so far & I expect the same from Dataone...form is all filled-up and I'll drop it off today.

Yeah. Sux.

I wonder when the concept of not charging according to bandwidth usage will actually kick-in in India. Atleast Dataone is a nice improvement over DIAS...

Yes, so does Sify. But how "fast" are they? Can they actually be called Broadband?

I've not used an Airtel Broadband thing, but I've seen how slow the unlimited Sify connection is. Download speeds are something in the order of 4-6 Kbps, where as my DIAS on 128 Kbps gives me a consistent 12-14 Kbps.

What about Reliance broadband, did anyone try that?, their tariff is tempting.
