Cracking the CAT ??

If I were to appear for CAT-2005 and want to actually have a chance at getting into one of the top B Schools here, what would be the best way to go about it? IMS seems to have pretty good courses....any other suggestions, ideas, tips would be awesome!

TIA

On a more serious note, MBA was on the back of my mind when I was in school....then went out, then came back, then went out. I've always thought of it as an option, but never seriously got around to doing anything about it. I had a chit chat with Dad about it yesterday night as well & my employers have also been encouraging me to do an MBA.

I guess all that added up and I *think* I'm going to take a serious go at CAT. I say think since I've not decided. Yet.

On a more serious note, a percentile of 98-99%, awesome skills in Group Discussion and abiblity to do well in the interviews. :)

There's an IIM-B community on LJ, along with sumit_mittal and manubhardwaj (both from IIM-B) and birdonthewire (from ISB, Hyd), where/whom can question.

CAT
IMS courses are good .. but i suggest u to go if for a correspondence course from ims. Make sure u get ur basics right.Get ur math - addition ,subtraction, multiplication, division fractions and percentages right.
CAT is not touugh,we make it tough, coz we put immense pressure on ourselves.
If u feel u need coaching, then u can join IMS classes and try to get career launcher or TIME courseware. It gives u more options in terms of practice papers and simulated tests.
Post september,u shud be confident with most topics and u shud be sloving atleast 5 full length test a week..
U can go and speak to any of the counsellers there..
Plus .. online check out http://www.pagalguy.com

Re: CAT
Any huge advantages of correspondance over actual classes as such?

Re: CAT
As far as the course material is concerned .. ther is absolutely no difference over the two.But the class room program requires u to study the relevant chapters before the class ..
On the other hand, classroom interaction with fellow aspirants can prove to be a valuable experience ...
So its really ur call .. .. it all depends upon how much time u are going to put in .. "on ur own", irrespective of the type of the course
